Coffee is thriving in Northern Uganda, and farmers are proving it every day.

In this video, a coffee farmer shares how his coffee enterprise has grown over the past few years, challenging the long-held belief that coffee cannot succeed in Northern Uganda.
Through the Climate Smart Jobs (CSJ) Project's agroforestry approach, farmers are integrating coffee with trees and crops to build more productive, climate-resilient farms while creating long-term income opportunities.
We also hear from Kawacom, which has established mother gardens in the region to ensure farmers can access quality coffee seedlings, training, and technical support, from seedling management to post-harvest handling.
Together, these efforts are helping more farmers adopt coffee, improve quality, increase yields, and see the business potential of coffee agroforestry.

Mechanised Land Preparation

Planting on time can make the difference between a good harvest and a missed opportunity.
This video shows how access to mechanised land preparation is helping farmers prepare fields on time, maximise seasonal rainfall, and improve productivity. This business model expands access to tractors and conservation mechanisation equipment that increase efficiency while protecting trees and supporting climate-smart agriculture.
The model is also creating jobs for operators, mechanics, and equipment suppliers, while helping farmers increase yields and strengthen their resilience.

Goat Breeding

In this video, members of a Farmer Group Enterprise share how goat breeding is transforming livestock production in Northern Uganda.
By crossbreeding Boer and Mubende goats, farmers access stronger, more productive, and climate-resilient goats that produce more meat, and command better market prices.
Beyond improving incomes, the model is creating opportunities for women, youth, breeders, and veterinary service providers while strengthening community livestock systems.

Reducing Post-Harvest Losses with Multicrop Shellers

This video follows JaFaib Farmer Group Enterprise and their experience providing multicrop shelling services to farmers.
Designed to process crops such as maize and soybean efficiently, multicrop shellers reduce labour demands, save time, improve grain quality, and help farmers access better markets.
The innovation has also created new business opportunities while reducing the burden of post-harvest handling, particularly for women who traditionally perform much of this work.
This locally fabricated solution is improving productivity and supporting climate-resilient livelihoods across Northern Uganda.

Pfumvudza Model Explained.

'Pfumvudza' is a climate-smart agriculture approach originating from Zimbabwe, based on the principles of conservation agriculture to boost productivity on small plots of land. The technique involves minimal soil disturbance, mulching with plant residue, and crop rotation on a small, intensively-managed plot (16m x 39m) to improve household food security. The word "Pfumvudza" means "new beginning" or "new season" in the Shona language.

Meet Nile Forestry, an enterprise turning environmental passion into a thriving business.

From seedlings to timber, and now even briquette innovation, this team is planting more than just trees. "We started Nile Forestry to align our profession with real impact," says Dorcus Angole, one of the founders. Through support from Climate Smart Jobs, they've strengthened their team, built capacity, and expanded community outreach, reaching over 31,650 young people, with 70% women at the heart of their mission. "Women are key in reversing environmental degradation," Dorcus adds.
